Maternity Leave Mistakes

When this baby was born, I spent my waking time early on “catching up” with about two years worth of Wired, National Geographic, and The Atlantic. Reading about some of the unfortunate things that have since become real (most things post-2016) feels quaint.

While these subscriptions were free with airline miles, I still felt bad about throwing them out. I felt much better about myself if I displayed them in decorative stacks around the house where guests could see them and think about how learned I was 🤣.

Seriously though, I’m glad I kept them, as an alternative to screen time. The trip down current events memory lane was a surprising treat.

Just don’t read an entire issue devoted to how losing sleep screws you up (irreversably), when you have a freshly hatched baby:

However, if you are well-rested, it’s a fascinating read.
